In 1977, an action comedy film was released in the theatres with the Title Smoey And The Bandit. Which is the first movie in the Smokey and Bandit Franchise. At that time this movie was the second highest-grossing film of 1977 later, the makers of this movie made Two sequels which are Smokey and The BanditII(1980) and Smokey and The Bandit(1983).
The Story of this franchise mainly Focus Bo”Bandit” and his Loyal Friend Cledues ” Snowman” as their audacious cross-country while breaking laws and facing off against various obstacles. There are also four Television Films that serve as a spin-off to this franchise which we are also going to discuss in this article. In 1977, an Action/Comedy film titled Smokey and The Bandit was released in theatre. The story of this movie revolves around Big Enos Burdette(Played By PatMcCormik) and his son Little Enos(Played By Paul Williams) who are challenging a renowned truck driver BO”Bandit” Darville( Played By Butt Reynolds) to smuggle a shipment of Coors Beer from Texas To Georgia within an exceptional timeframe.
Bandit Darville who is also famous for his speedy driving and daring stunts accepts the challenge involving his friend Cledus”Snowman”( Played By Jerry Reed) to drive the truck. At the same time, Bandit diverts the police as a decoy. As Bandit and the snowman race against the clock, while delivering the beer, they face various obstacles, including Sheriff Justice and his bumbling son Junior( Played By Mike Henry) who is determined to catch Bandit at any cost.
Three years after the first installment, the sequel of this franchise was released with the title Smokey and the Bandit II., which continues the story of Bandit And Snowman. After completing his first challenges in the previous film, they get another challenge from Big Enos Burnette and Little Enos Burdette to transport an Elephant from Florida To Texas.
Bandit Who is always ready for challenges accepts this challenge also with the help of his friend Snowman to drive the truck while he serves as a decoy to distract the police. However, Sheriff Buford T. Justice(Played By Jackie Gleason) is still nursing a grudge against Bandit to catch him this time at any cost.
As They embark on their journey with the elephant in tow, they face many obstacles and challenges, including rival truck groups and groups of animal rights activists.
Here’s the Final Installment of this Smokey and The Bandit Trilogy and a sequel to Smokey and The Bandit(1977) and Smokey and the BanditII(1980). But this installment takes a slightly different approach from the previous film. Big Enose and Little Enose trying to Approach Sheriff Buford T. Justice with a wager-betting of $250,00 against Buford Badge, to transport a large stuffed from Miami to Austin, Texas, as he is retiring soon. After realizing that retirement is not as fulfilling as he had hoped, he accepts the challenge and starts his journey picking up the fish with the help of his junior son.
However, Big and Little Enhose set many traps to hinder Buford’s Progress, but Buford skillfully manages to escape them all. After That, They decide to Hire a Bo “Bandit” but soon realize Bo is too difficult to manage. So, as an alternative, they hire Cledus Snow, who is retiring as a snowman, to play the role of New Bandit. Cledus teamed up with Fred to overseas his company and embark on a mission on a Bandit Pontiac Trans Arm Car.
Altogether, there are main 3 movies in this franchise, In The first two Movie, the story of the film mainly focuses on truck driver BO”Bandit” Darville( Played By Butt Reynolds) whereas the third installment focuses on Sheriff Buford T. Justice ( Jackie Gleason).
